義大犀牛總教練徐生明突然辭世，犀牛代總教練黃燛隆說「師母拜託我轉達2件事，第一是將徐總職棒生涯715勝列入正式的紀錄，第二是拿下義大犀牛元年的總冠軍，師母希望大家化悲憤為力量，幫徐總完成這兩個夢想」。

昨天（24日）打完雙重賽，要離開天母球場前，徐總還對黃煚隆說「明天（25日）到新莊，我會開車去載你」，沒想到沒多久，徐總就因為疑似心肌梗塞過世，黃燛隆第一時間趕快陽明醫院，「一見到師母，她就說徐總走了」，直到現在，黃煚隆都不敢相信這是真的。

黃燛隆球員時期是味全龍隊的球員，與徐總淵源很深，加上家都住在天母附近，因此兩人相當熟識，2003年徐總接任中華隊總教練，曾邀請黃燛隆擔任打擊教練，但黃燛隆因故婉拒，想起這段往事，黃燛隆說「這是我最大的遺憾」。

後來徐總接任中信鯨總教練，2004年雅典奧運之後，因接受換腎手術，缺席了1個月的時間，當時就是由黃燛隆代理總教練，當時徐總還會回來掌兵符，但這一次，徐總已經無法回來了。

黃燛隆表示「現在不是考慮個人職務的時候了，從現在開始，就是承擔責任的開始」，黃燛隆希望可以帶領義大犀牛打下總冠軍，完成亦師亦友的徐總，最後的夢想。
